About Us
We are a proud veteran-owned small business, established in 2022, dedicated to crafting high-quality, handcrafted decanters that are as unique and distinctive as the individuals who use them. Every piece we create is built with meticulous precision, genuine pride, and a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship—values deeply rooted in our extensive military and law enforcement backgrounds.
It all began with two retired guys enjoying their time in the garage, sipping whiskey and making sawdust—turning a shared passion for woodworking and storytelling into something far greater.
Our decanters are much more than just ordinary drinkware; they serve as conversation starters, bold statement pieces, and meaningful gifts meticulously designed to elevate any special occasion. Whether you're celebrating a significant achievement, hosting a gathering of friends, or simply savoring a quiet evening at home, our custom decanters introduce character, elegance, and timeless style to every single pour.
Founded in 2022, Carter Customs was born from the extraordinary journey of Carter, the grandson of one of our business partners, whose life began with a tremendous challenge. Carter was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) a rare and severe congenital heart defect where the left side of the heart is undeveloped, making it difficult for oxygenated blood to circulate properly. Without immediate intervention, the condition can be life-threatening shortly after birth.
Instead of proceeding with the standard immediate open-heart surgery, Carter’s medical team at UC Davis pursued a groundbreaking, experimental procedure in the Cath lab - making Carter the first patient on the West Coast to receive this treatment. Doctors placed a stent to help oxygenated blood reach his body and added flow restrictors to balance blood flow to his lungs. This innovative approach allowed Carter to go home, grow stronger, and gain the stability needed for future surgeries.
At two months old, Carter underwent the Norwood procedure, the first major surgery in a three-part series to rebuild his heart’s functions. His recovery was nothing short of miraculous. By nine months, he completed his second open-heart with incredible success, and today he is a vibrant, joyful young boy, full of energy and life. His final planned surgery, the Fontan procedure, is expected before the age of four, and with continued prayer, we believe it will be his last until adulthood.
Carter Customs was created as a tribute to his journey - a reminder that through faith, innovation, perseverance, and hope, incredible things are possible. Every creation we build carries that same spirit of strength and resilience that Carter embodies every day.
